A Synopis of forgotten History

There are two little-known stories in the history of Massy Trinidad All Stars that must be recounted, registered, and remembered.

In 1967 Massy Trinidad All Stars, then known as Trinidad All-Stars, experienced a dramatic setback as key players left the band. After hearing about the loss, several youths from Jackson Place and Jackson Hill (an area also known as behind the bridge) deliberated and concluded decisively that they should join the band to avoid a fallout. These youths were instrumental in restoring the band and therefore their names must be mentioned and remembered. They are as follows: Ruthven Bailey, Lance Jones, Clyde Boland, Francis Boland, Noel “Cincin” Lord, Ernest Rivers, Patrick Tony, Alvin Lord, Kyum “Vet” Khan, Newton “Barabbas” Pollard, Anthony Pollard, Rance Hospedales, Errol “Reds” Collins, and Hamilton ”Web” Alexander. Errol and Hamilton later became captains of the band in 1971 and 1977 respectively.

Fast-forwarding to about the year 2007, another chapter was written in the history book of Massy Trinidad All Stars when Sydney Nelson and Maralin Lowe emerged with a splendid idea. This idea led to the discussion of bringing a more fashionable format for “Monday Mas” sections. Well, the rest is history. Today, with more than 20 registered sections, the band is arguably, the largest and most colorful steel band presentation on Carnival Monday. As a result, they received numerous titles for ‘Band of the day” that eventually earned them the “Band of the year” title in 2014 and 2015. To recognize and acknowledge these accomplishments, section leaders and their sections are being showcased with some of their contributions over the years.

In our clips below, we have tried to include as much material as was available and apologize in advance for any inadvertent omissions of any section leader or sections during period from 2014 through 2019.
